AirChord: chords and sounds
Pads, key, joystick, five play modes, ChordSequencer, effects and presets.
Play harmony with seven pads
Open Jam → AirChord. In KEY choose key, scale, octave and the chord's bass-note options; choose a timbre in SOUND. The separate bassline instrument is AirBass.
Pads 1–7 are degrees of the current key, not fixed chord names. In C major, pads 6, 4, 1, 5 give Am–F–C–G. Press and hold a pad; releasing it ends an ordinary note.
The joystick changes chord colour and voicing. Directions choose interval variants; the centre restores the basic voicing. Pads and joystick work together. Playing view helps on a small screen; scroll using the margins around the pads.
Choose a play mode
In Presets & Motion, choose arpeggio direction, rate 1/8 or 1/16, and octave range. Auto retains the original timing grid across contexts. Gate controls step/arpeggio hold time, Attack the onset and Release the ending. Envelope Auto retains the timbre's original character.
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Chord | Chord notes start together. |
| Strum | Notes start in sequence, like a strum. |
| Arpeggio | A repeated note pattern while a pad is held. |
| Drone | The chord latches after release; Stop all clears it. |
| Lead | A pad plays a melodic note. |
ChordSequencer and effects
- Expand and enable ChordSequencer. Choose a chord in a column; an empty column is a rest. Sixteen steps form one bar.
- Use Tie mode to sustain across steps. Adjust Gate and Swing, then press Play on the shared Jam transport.
- Enable Reverb, Delay or Chorus and adjust the amount. Reverb adds reflections, Delay repeats and Chorus movement and width. AirChord volume sets its balance; Master affects the whole mix.
Sounds, progressions and user presets differ
A factory sound preset loads timbre, Mode, envelope and effects without replacing key, tempo, volume or pattern. A progression loads only a 16-step pattern in the current key.
A user preset stores key, scale, sound, effects, Motion and steps with Ties. It does not replace tempo, volume, sequencer on/off or the AirLooper phrase. Save it under your own name; presets belong to project files. Loading and deleting support Undo.
Use AirLooper to record a performance. To change harmony in only one composition block, use its Arrangement inspector.
