AirLooper: recording and note editing

Record, synchronization, Overdub, quantization and fixing a phrase without recording it again.

Record a performance, not a microphone

  1. Open Jam → AirChord → AirLooper. Choose a sound and play the pads. AirLooper retains AirChord musical events, not drums, AirBass or microphone audio.
  2. Press Record. In free mode without count-in, recording waits for your first chord. Play a phrase; recording is limited to four bars.
  3. Press Done: an ordinary take is saved and starts looping. AirLooper's own Play/Stop controls the phrase. Cancel while waiting abandons the recording start.
  4. Save a project file. For an independent composition copy, select an Arrangement chord block and press Capture AirLooper.

Count-in, sync and quantization

Recording settings offer four count-in clicks before recording; the clicks are not captured. With AirBeat sync, first start Jam at the same BPM. Play, Record and Overdub join a future bar; count-in adds another bar before recording. Synced phrases must occupy whole bars.

AirBeat Pause/Stop stops AirLooper and cancels unfinished Overdub; the phrase does not automatically resume. Tempo changes restart synced playback from a new bar.

The quantization grid affects the next take or new layer. Quantize phrase changes an already-recorded, stopped phrase, with Undo. Recording options last for the current session; phrase events are saved in the project.

Add a layer in one pass

  1. Stop the existing phrase and press Overdub. It plays once while you add notes.
  2. Done saves the layer and stops Overdub; Cancel keeps the original. An empty pass changes nothing. Quantization affects only the new layer.
  3. AirLooper Undo removes the added layer; Redo restores it. The original phrase length stays fixed. Event density is bounded; this is not unlimited multitrack recording.

Fix a note without a new take

  1. Stop AirLooper recording and playback. Expand Edit AirLooper notes and select an event.
  2. Enter one note or several separated by spaces, such as C4 E4 G4. Start and length use beats, counted from 0. You can edit sound, Attack/Release, add and delete events.
  3. Apply to phrase commits the entire draft as one Undo edit. Cancel edits and Escape discard it. If source phrase or tempo changes, open a fresh draft.
  4. Listen and save the project. Capture, Save/Open and subsequent exports use the corrected events. Previously captured blocks do not update automatically.

If a phrase exceeds the Jam editor's density limit, the original is retained. Use Capture and the Arrangement block note editor. WAV/MIDI export the composition, so capture the required phrase into a block first.
